Garrett McAlister, Prevention Education Manager

Garrett (he/him) oversees men’s engagement and masculinity programming for Prevention, Outreach, and Education. His role includes co-coordinating the Greeks Take the Lead (GTTL) program for Fraternity & Sorority Life organizations, developing the Spartans Against Violence program for men's athletics, and creating engagement opportunities for masculine identified individuals at MSU.  

Garrett earned a Master of Science in Education degree from Illinois State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Illinois, Springfield.  Garrett has a background in residence education, student conflict and resolution, as well as working with university initiatives regarding the retention of men of color. In his work, Garrett places an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion. He is passionate about engaging in conversations and education regarding healthy masculinity and the various ways in which masculinity is intersectional.

In his spare time, Garrett enjoys traveling to new places, trying new restaurants, playing video games, watching anime, and spending time with his dog.
