Program Description
The Greeks Take the Lead Program is a mandatory workshop series for all fraternity and sorority chapters that are currently registered student organizations (RSOs) or are hoping to become a RSO. The Greeks Take the Lead Program serves as a way to help fraternity and sorority students feel empowered by providing further education on how they can intervene and end sexual violence in their chapters and greater community. All chapter presidents and risk managers (or another leadership member, if your chapter does not have a risk manager) participate in leadership-based interactive training, and all general members are required to choose a workshop focused on a specialized topic.
The "Greeks Take the Lead" Program serves to:
Check out our resource guide specifically designed for students in fraternities and sororities!
This guide provides information on reporting RVSM incidents, supporting survivors of sexual or relationship violence, intervention strategies and support resources for survivors (and co-survivors).
Registration for GTTL general member sessions is NOW OPEN! Registration is required for all individuals who are planning to attend a general member session. Sessions are only open to members of the IFC, MGC, NPHC, and PC organizations. Contact your chapter president for information about registration. There are capacity limits for each session, so sign up soon!
All sessions will occur synchronously on Zoom webinars and individuals will receive the appropriate Zoom links after they register for their desired session. Please see the photo below for the specific dates and times for the general member sessions.
Accommodations are available for individuals who believe that attending a session about gender-based violence prevention will be too difficult for them given past experiences. Accommodations can be accessed through the registration form or through contacting gttl@msu.edu directly. Please note that the gttl@msu.edu inbox is monitored by Prevention, Outreach and Education staff who are exempt resources on campus, meaning that they are not required to file a report of any instances of gender-based violence that they learn about.
If you have additional questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to gttl@msu.edu. We look forward to having you all in attendance!
The Prevention, Outreach and Education Department and Michigan State Fraternity & Sorority Life are looking to capture feedback from fraternity and sorority students on potential topics to include for “Greeks Take the Lead” in this upcoming academic year.
Please fill out this anonymous interest form if you are an undergraduate fraternity or sorority member and would like to provide feedback on topics you'd like to be incorporated into Greeks Take the Lead program. Feedback provided by Friday, October 1st will be prioritized, but please feel free to fill out this form any time afterwards.
Michigan State University is committed to providing equal opportunity for participation in all programs, services and activities. Accommodations for persons with disabilities may be requested by contacting a POE Prevention Specialist at gttl@msu.edu. Requests received will be honored whenever possible.
Contact a POE Prevention Specialist at gttl@msu.edu and let them know of your concern.
No, Greeks Take the Lead is a specialized training that is a different requirement from a SARV Prevention workshop or a Bystander Network workshop.
All members of Fraternity and Sorority Life are encouraged to attend workshops that are part of Greeks Take the Lead. If your chapter is a Registered Student Organization (RSO) you are required to attend a workshop to maintain your RSO status. If you're still unsure of your status or whether or not you need to attend, you may send an email to gttl@msu.edu to contact a POE Prevention Specialist.
Greeks Take the Lead is offering an array of workshops on different days and times to accommodate varying schedules. We encourage you to register as soon as possible, as workshops will close once they meet capacity. Do not wait until the last workshop is offered, as it will fill up quickly.
Send a list of members who will be gone during programming to gttl@msu.edu as soon as possible so that your roster reflects who is in your chapter. If you fail to send in these names, this could compromise your RSO status.
Email your question to gttl@msu.edu in order to a POE Prevention Specialist, and expect a reply within 2 business days.
