ACTivating Change

Act! Challenge! Teach! A comprehensive approach to violence prevention, bystander intervention, is informed by social change theory and calls on all community members to be involved in creating a culture that does not tolerate violence. Participants will learn about bystander intervention through awareness raising, education, and skill-building.

Audience: Students, faculty, staff

Communicating Consent

In this interactive training, we will examine healthy ways of practicing consent and establishing boundaries. We will also unpack different myths about consent—such as the “grey” area. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of how they can mindfully practice consent.

Creating a Healthy Work Environment

We can all be a part of creating a culture of respect in the workplace, this training will help you hone in your skills to do so. Participants will think critically about setting the norm in their workplace, creating a culture of transparency, and holding each other accountable. This training will have a specific focus on sexual harassment prevention.

Leading with Limits

In a leadership role it is important to understand where you may have limits. This training will cover how you can navigate boundaries in professional settings. We will discuss balancing your role as a mandatory reporter and as a student at MSU. We will be focusing specifically on power dynamics and the role that they play in academic settings. 

Audience: Student employees (including graduate students)

Navigating Policy and Reporting

In this training, participants will learn in depth about the Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct (RVSM) Policy. Participants will learn about how to file a report, what happens after a report is made, retaliation protection, and interim measures. We will also cover confidential resources available in the campus community.

Audience: University employees who are mandatory reporters

Time: 30-45 minutes

Relationship Goals

In this training, we will be talking all about relationships— the relationship you have with yourself, with your peers, and with your romantic partners. We will discuss the types of relationships that you want to cultivate with others and how you can put that into action. You will leave this training with tools to bring to your personal and professional life.

Seeing Red (Flags)

How can you recognize warning signs in relationships? This training enables participants to think critically about healthy/unhealthy relationships, and introduces campus and community resources for people that may be in unhealthy relationships and the people that care about them.

Supporting Survivors

We recommend this training for everyone! We will discuss how you can be a supportive person to an individual who is a survivor of sexual assault or relationship violence. We will delve into ways that you can be supportive as a friend, as a colleague, and as a mandatory reporter (for those of you that are required).

Time: 1 hour- 90 minutes

Keep in mind that our department specifically focuses on relationship violence, stalking, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, and sexual violence.

Educational training programs are intended for groups affiliated with the University. POE is able to work with your group to tailor training content/delivery to your specific needs. Please allow us at least two (2) weeks for scheduling a training, especially if you would like it to be customized for your group. If you would like the training to occur in less than two (2) weeks please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your community. Trainings are free of charge.
