LaShondra Hemphill, Climate & Response Specialist

LaShondra, (she/her/they) is a Climate and Response Specialist in the MSU Prevention, Outreach and Education Department where she provides outreach and support in response to relationship violence and sexual misconduct. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville State University.

LaShondra is a native of Birmingham, AL where she had worked 15+ years in prevention and intervention services, social services, and with court-involved youth. In 2016, LaShondra co-founded a non-profit organization that provided domestic violence prevention services, trainings, consultation, group therapy, and workshops across two counties. Her passion for empowering others to become their best selves laid a foundation for her career in domestic and family violence prevention, community engagement and social innovation.

LaShondra is the founder of the Initiative for Creative Arts, an organization that is committed to making cultural arts accessible to all youth and investing in their creative futures. She is an avid vinyl record collector, enjoys producing music/deejaying, traveling, napping on the beach, and admiring her collection of butterflies.
