All student-athletes are required to complete the two, 90-minute sessions each year.
Sessions will be scheduled by the athletics department according to each team's schedule. The athletics department will communicate with team coaches to coordinate scheduling.
Sessions are facilitated by the Prevention, Outreach and Education (POE) Department. The first session is facilitated by POE professional staff. The second session will be facilitated by a POE professional staff member and an undergraduate student employee.
No. These sessions are led by POE staff who are not required to report incidents of relationship violence, sexual misconduct or stalking.  Athletics staff members are asked not to attend these sessions because we are discussing sensitive topics with student-athletes and university employees would be required to report to the Office of Institutional Equity and/or Michigan State Police Department.
There will be one make-up opportunity for each of the two sessions. This will be coordinated by the athletics department.
These sessions are created with a survivor focus and are intentionally made to be sensitive to the topics of sexual and relationship violence. If a student-athlete is concerned that the workshop might be a difficult experience, they can request accommodations by contacting POE Prevention Specialist Melissa Wagner at POE.MelissaWagner@msu.edu or Garrett McAlister at POE.GarrettMcAlister.msu.edu. POE staff are not required to report on incidents of relationship violence, sexual misconduct or stalking.
