Spartan Men and Masculinity Network Logo
Program Mission: Spartan Men and Masculinity Network programming was created to bring men, male, and masculine identified students together to explore and unpack the intricacies of their identities as a community. To challenge gender-based violence in the community by creating increased understanding and knowledge about the role of masculinity in gender-based violence. Re-framing the views, beliefs, social constructs, and expectations regarding masculinity.

What Is it?

Spartan Men and Masculinity Network is programming consisting of a cohort series and campus-wide events meant to explore masculinity, men’s and/or masculine privilege, connecting the intersections of masculinities, comprehending masculinities as they pertain to gender-based violence, and how to utilize masculine privilege to serve as a change agent.

Why should I join or nominate someone?

Spartan Men and Masculinity Network is a great way to dive deep into different aspects of masculinity, working through the ways it personally impacts us on a personal level, and how it fits into the larger gender-based violence narrative. This space will also help reframe the narrative and unrealistic expectations restrictive masculinity creates.

How do I join or nominate?

Participants can fill out an interest form, be nominated by someone on campus, or reach out to Garrett McAlister at poe.garrettmcalister@msu.edu for more information.
