Alex Babbitt, Peer Education Manager

Alex (he/him/his) is originally from Kalamazoo, Mi. and graduated from Michigan State University in 2019. As the Peer Educator Coordinator, Alex supervises POE’s team of undergraduate peer educators and coordinates the MSU It’s On Us campaign.

During his time as a student at MSU Alex was a POE peer educator, hosted an undergraduate student violence prevention conference for student activists across Michigan, and was involved in other gender-based violence prevention initiatives. In addition to being a peer educator, he also supported the department through administrative work and multiple internships. After graduating from MSU he spent the next 3 years as a teacher, teaching 10th and 4th grade in New York City in both public and charter schools and did so online, in person, and a mixture of both.

Alex’s passions lie at the intersection of education and gender-based violence prevention. He’s driven to create empowering and transformational learning experiences for peer educators and deeply believes in the power of peer education. In his spare time, you can find Alex reading, watching movies with friends, exploring his creative side, or finding new food to try!
