Michael Allensworth, Director for Employee & Graduate Student Programs

Michael (he/him) has worked at Michigan State University for eight years and currently serves as the Director for Employee & Graduate Student Programs for Prevention, Outreach, and Education. Prior to this, Michael worked in various roles in Residence Education and Housing Services promoting student success initiatives, enhancing campus collaborations, and helping facilitate a positive living and learning experience for students, faculty, and staff.

In his current role, Michael oversees the Faculty, Staff, and Graduate student unit within POE focusing on prevention training, online learning, and various engagement initiatives across campus. Michael is committed to building coalitions across campus to help improve campus culture and climate. Michael is also part of the MSU Vote Coalition on campus, whose mission is to increase the number of registered voters and inform and educate the community on registration and voter education. Additionally, Michael is involved with NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, a higher education association, where he has served as Chief of Staff to the Regional Director, Treasurer, and most recently, 2021 Conference Co-chair.

A first-generation college student from Illinois, Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Arts degree in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University. Outside of work, Michael enjoys running, travel, trying new restaurants, reading, and following Big 10 college sports.
